2021 ELITE WOMEN’S WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Prior to the Tokyo Olympic Games the Board of Boxing Australia accepted the offer of CombatAUS that it meet all costs associated with the Australian Olympic boxers competing in their respective 2021 World Championships if they were held.

Subsequently, each for their own reason, Alex Winwood, Harry Garside and Paulo Aokuso, advised they were unavailable for the 2021 Elite Men’s World Championships.

The offer, of course, extended to Skye Nicolson and Caitlin Parker if an Elite Women’s World Championships was to be conducted.

AIBA has recently decided to conduct an Elite Women’s World Championships this December in Istanbul, Turkey, and the offer of entering them into the Championships has been made to Skye and Caitlin.

Additionally, CombatAUS has now extended its offer to the other ‘categorised’ women boxers Kristy Harris, Antonia Kay and Kaye Scott.

The Boxing Australia Board has accepted the CombatAUS offer – it is a generous offer as the potential liability for the costs of travelling internationally at this time is high.

Accordingly, the Board of Boxing Australia will enter each of Skye, Caitlin, Kristy, Antonia and Kaye into the World Championships if they so wish.
