2022 Australia Commonwealth Games Boxing Team

The Board of Boxing Australia advises boxers and coaches interested in participating in the selection process of the Australian Boxing Team to the 2022 Commonwealth Games -

  1. Because of the decision this week of AIBA that the next Elite Women’s World Championships will be postponed to March, 2022 (on dates yet to be determined and announced) it may be necessary to hold the Australian Commonwealth Games Boxing Team Selection Event at a date different to the scheduled 6-9 April, 2022.

The Board of Boxing Australia will address whether the scheduled dates for the Commonwealth Games Boxing Team Selection Event should be changed when AIBA advises the exact dates of the next Elite Women’s World Championships.

  1. Pursuant to the Commonwealth Games Team Selection Criteria, the Working Group appointed pursuant to the Selection Criteria has determined that the following 11 weight categories will be those that Australia will enter boxers in the 2022 Commonwealth Games (please note that Commonwealth Games Australia has increased by one from 10 to 11 the number of Australian boxers in the Australian Team that can be nominated to it for selection):

Elite Men

U 52 kg

U 60 kg

U 64 kg

U 69 kg

U 75 kg

U 81 kg

U 91 kg

Elite Women

U 51 kg

U 60 kg

U 69 kg

U 75 kg

Additionally, the Working Group has determined (a) if pursuant to the Selection Criteria a boxer is not entered into one or more of the foregoing weight categories or (b) if a further boxer position or positions is made available by Commonwealth Games Australia, that the National Selection Panel created pursuant to the Selection Criteria will give the following priority for weight category selection for boxer entry:

  1. Elite Men 91 kg +
  2. Elite Women U 57 kg
  3. Elite Men U 56 kg
  4. Elite Men U 49 kg
  5. Elite Women U 48 kg

The members of the Working Group and National Selection Panel (both have the same membership) created pursuant to the Selection Criteria for the 2022 Commonwealth Games Australian Boxing Team are:
