2022 Commonwealth Games Team Selection Criteria announcement

Commonwealth Games Australia has approved the Selection Criteria for the Australian Boxing Team to the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England.
Commonwealth Games Australia is restricted by the international Commonwealth Games Federation in the number of athletes it can enter into the Commonwealth Games.
Commonwealth Games Australia in allocating the available athlete positions among all Sports has determined that eleven (11) positions are available for Boxers in the Australian Team.
The Working Group created pursuant to the Selection Criteria has determined that a Boxer in each of the following eleven (11) weight categories will be nominated to Commonwealth Games Australia to be in the Australian Team:
Women
Over 48kg – 50kg
Over 54kg – 57kg
Over 66kg – 70 kg
Over 70kg – 75kg
Men
Over 48kg – 51kg
Over 54kg - 57kg
Over 60kg- 63.5kg
Over 67kg – 71kg
Over 71kg – 75kg
Over 75kg – 80kg
Over 86kg – 92kg
The Selection Tournament for the Australian Commonwealth Games Boxing Team will be held in conjunction with the Selection Tournament for the Australian 2022 Elite Women’s World Championships Team.
The winners of the four (4) designated Women’s weight categories will be considered for selection to the Australian Teams to both the Commonwealth Games and the Elite Women’s World Championships.
The Selection Tournament will be held in Melbourne.
The dates for the Selection Tournament and its venue will be announced next week - it is anticipated the Selection Tournament will be conducted 16-19 March or 19-22 March.
