Boxing Australia (BA) has set the stage for success beyond Paris, unveiling a new High Performance (HP) Strategy aimed at providing sustained achievement on the global stage. BA HP Strategy earned a high confidence rating from both the AIS and combined HP system, reflecting the quality, clarity, and feasibility of the strategy.
The nation’s boxers had their most successful Olympics in history in 2024, with Charlie Senior and Caitlin Parker bringing home bronze medals. BA intends to continue that momentum through its new strategy, which will ensure targeted support for current elite athletes and foster a new generation of champions in the ring.
BA recently took ownership of its own High Performance Program and this roadmap, which incorporates the Australian Sports Commission’s High Performance 2032+ ‘Win Well’ Sport Strategy, sets out clear goals and ambitions that would establish Australia as among the world leaders in the sport.
“This strategy was created in consultation with our key stakeholders and lays out the pathway for Australian boxers to Win Well over the coming decade,” CEO Dinah Glykidis said.
“We want to nurture a robust pipeline of athletes, foster an inclusive and supportive environment, consistently achieve podium success on the global stage and grow through strategic governance, innovation and investment in High Performance development.
“This strategy will not only give our current Olympic-level fighters every chance to succeed and elevate their performance but intends to find and develop talented young athletes who seek a pathway to the top.”
The strategy will be overseen by BA’s new General Manager of High-Performance Jonathan Hall, who brings a wealth of experience to the role and will be a key figure in guiding and implementing the strategic HP program.
Hall has more than three decades of experience as a performance coach and senior administrator, having worked with leading organisations including the Victorian Institute of Sport, USA Triathlon, Triathlon Canada, Swimming Australia, Australian Athletics, Sailing Australia and Netball Australia among others.
“It is a privilege to accept the role of General Manager of High Performance at Boxing Australia. I will lean on all my experience working within the Australian system as well as my international roles to facilitate the athletes, coaches and Boxing Australia and members to achieve the goals that have been set out,” Hall said.
“I am in awe of our boxers who show such courage and determination in representing their country, family, coaches, gyms and respective communities and it was an easy decision to join the BA team at such an exciting time for the sport.
“I look forward to supporting boxing's impressive technical leadership and I look forward to working towards collectively creating a High-Performance environment that focuses on winning and Winning Well for athletes and all stakeholders."
Hall will begin his role on March 5.
