Following the advice received through the recently conducted High Performance review, Boxing Australia, in consult with the AIS Combat Centre, have determined that the Boxing Australia Centre of Excellence program based at the AIS will restart following the Women’s World Championships selection event in WA from the 19-21 July. Those athletes whom accept an invitation to take part in the CoE program will be expected to move in to the AIS residences on the weekend of 28/29 July or thereabouts. The CoE program is not exclusively available to categorised athletes and is expected to also include those talented male and female athletes identified as likely to benefit greatly from having access to the SSSM and training facilities on offer at the AIS over an extended period.
The initial block of training throughout August will serve as a preparation camp for a tour of Europe for selected female athletes that will include competitions in both Poland and Spain during September, to also include the Women’s Youth Olympic Games representative. A second extended camp will take place during October and November and will serve as preparation for the 2018 Women’s World Championships in mid-November and the 2018 Australia Elite National Championships.
